Visa Requirements
Though the requirements vary with the visa type, the general requirements are
- Firstly, the age of the person should be under 45 when applying.
- Secondly, English efficiency certification is to be provided. For example, the required IELTS score.
- Thirdly, the occupation for which a person is nominated should be in the required Skilled Occupation list.
- Fourthly, the person’s skills and experience for the occupation.
- Fifthly, the person’s skill set should be assessed by the Australian assessing authority.
- Additionally, the person should undergo a medical examination, and health is assessed by a panel doctor.
- Lastly, a character assessment is also required for applying for a work visa.
How to apply?
The application procedures for a skilled and nominated candidate’s visa is as follows –
Skilled Visa:
For a skilled visa, the applicant needs to submit an online Expression of Interest (EOI) on the SkillSelect. It is the online system to receive and process visa applications for skilled migration. The details on Skillselect will receive points such as age, language, educt, experience, etc. The state territory or employer for an Australian visa will nominate a selected applicant.
Nominated/Sponsored Visa:
In this type, an approved sponsor such as an employer or state territory or government agency must sponsor the applicant. An online application can be submitted with the Transaction Reference Number or Application ID, if the employer approves to sponsor/nominate the candidate.
Usually the visa processing takes up 6 to 12 months but it can also be varied with the type of visa, verification of details provided, certification and clarification sought by the office if any.
