The scholarship only applies for 2 years of study duration and not more than that. Hence, there are two types of Sweden Institute scholarships available. They are the Sweden Institute Scholarship for Global Professionals and the Sweden Institute scholarship for South Africa (SISSA). Here, we will focus on the former Sweden Institute scholarship.

Eligibility criteria for Sweden Institute Scholarship
The following are the eligibility criteria you need to fulfil to apply for the scholarship.
- The candidate should be a citizen of the country that is eligible to apply for the program. Hence, the list of eligible countries is in the section below.
- Besides the points mentioned earlier, the candidate should also be enrolled in one of the eligible master’s programs mentioned in the list.
- Additionally, the candidate should have a minimum of 3000 hours of work experience. Moreover, the candidate should have leadership experience from current or previous work or civil society, etc.
- Lastly, the candidate should be passionate about making a difference globally and should be ready to work on a specific issue and contribute to sustainable development either in Sweden’s home country. Therefore, priority is given to the candidates who have a clear idea of how their study in Sweden will help them achieve a sustainable development goal. Also, the institution prefers candidates who have strong leadership experience and professional background.

Here is the list of the documents that are required to apply for the Sweden Institute Scholarship.
- CV or resume
- Letter of Reference (LOR)
- Motivation letter
- Proof of work and leadership experience (Valid)
- Valid passport copy
How to apply for the Sweden Institute Scholarship
Before applying for the scholarship, you should be admitted into an eligible and recognized university for a master’s program with an eligible course (mentioned in the list above).
- Firstly, the candidate will get an application number that can be used to apply for the Sweden Institute Scholarship global professional program after a successful application.
- Hence, after a successful application process in the university, the candidate can apply for the Sweden Institute Scholarship through the official website.
- Next, submit all the required documents online. Moreover, the online portal is open from 8 Feb to 18 Feb.
- Following this, you will receive the admission results in April, and you become eligible for the scholarship if selected. Kindly note that the candidates who are on the waiting list are also not eligible for the scholarship.
- Lastly, the scholarship recipients list is also released, and each recipient will receive a personal scholarship offer letter by email. Also, note that they will only notify those candidates who receive the scholarship.
