Nagaland Scholarship – Eligibility, Deadline, & More

The government of Nagaland has implemented various schemes and scholarships to help financially restrained students achieve their dreams. Further, these scholarships are only for students who are residents of Nagaland. The Nagaland scholarship is also offered and maintained by the ministry of education, the ministry of tribal affairs, the government of Nagaland, and the ministry of higher education. Without further ado, let’s go into the list of the Nagaland scholarships available for students. There are five scholarships and schemes as listed below. The general eligibility criterion for each scholarship is that the students should be a permanent resident of the state of Nagaland. Any candidate from any other state is not eligible. Along with this criterion, there are some other criteria related to finance, marks obtained, etc., that should be fulfilled. Nagaland state merit scholarship

The Nagaland state merit scholarship is organized by the department of higher education, the government of Nagaland. The applications for this scholarship open between June and July. Additionally, this scholarship is open to all candidates from OBC, SC, ST to general category students. Also, students of class 11 to postgraduate can avail this scholarship. Further, as the name suggests, the scholarship is based on merit, and the student should be meritorious.

Hence, the 11th and 12th students should score more than 80% in their 10th and 11th, respectively. While the undergraduate and postgraduate students should score at least 70% in their previous study, that is high school and undergraduate respectively. Pre-metric Scholarship for Schedule tribe Students

This Nagaland scholarship targets only the Scheduled tribe students studying in class 9th and 10th. Besides, the scholarship is applicable for students whose family income from all sources is equal to or less than Rs.2 lakh. Also, it is open to students attending a government and a government-recognized private school. Further, the award from this scholarship is Rs.2000 per annum for each student. 

The Ministry of tribal affairs, the government of Nagaland, handles the pre-metric scholarship for ST students. Also, the applications for this scholarship open in May or June. To apply for this scholarship, you should go through your school and submit the form to the district education officer.

Post-metric Nagaland Scholarship for Scheduled Tribe students 

This scholarship is provided by the department of higher and technical education, the government of Nagaland. Further, the applications for this scholarship open between June and July. As the name suggests, it is applicable only for the Scheduled tribe students studying in Class 11th to postgraduate. 

Also, the schedule tribe students’ eligibility criteria are that the total family income from all the sources should be less than or equal to Rs.2.5 lakh per annum. Further, the award through this scholarship is variable for each candidate. The total number of scholarships awarded under this is 40,000. NEC Stipend and Book Grant Scheme Nagaland

The NEC Stipend is managed by the department of higher and technical education, the government of Nagaland. The scholarship accepts applications between June and July. Further, this scholarship is only for the general and scheduled tribe candidates. Any student pursuing a professional degree, diploma, master’s, M Phil, Ph.D., etc., can apply for this scheme.

The eligibility criteria include scoring above 75% marks in the previous year’s qualifying examination for general category students. While the ST students should score more than 60% marks in the qualifying examination. Additionally, only 150 schemes are available for this scheme. Nagaland State Research Fellowship

The Nagaland State Research Fellowship is maintained by the department of higher education, the government of Nagaland. The applications open between July and September for this scholarship. However, this scholarship is available only for Scheduled Tribes and indigenous candidates. It is aimed towards students pursuing M Phil and Ph.D. from any recognized university in India.
